A few items we do not allow in the orchard: pets, strainers, large bottles of water and blankets. We apologize, but we do not allow picknicking; we are an orchard for picking cherries only.
We love pets, but our insurance does not permit us to allow pets into the orchard. We apologize for the inconvenience.
We do have both small and large bucket sizes available for your use while picking. We also have a few ladders scattered throughout the Orchard that are to be used by adults only and at your own risk. There is no additional charge to use our buckets and ladders.
Absolutely! We look forward to seeing your party.
We are sorry, but we do not allow eating the cherries while picking in the orchard. We sell our amazing, Brentwood cherries for only 3-4 weeks per year, so we ask that you pick, pay, then eat. Thank you for understanding.
After you pick our amazing cherries, you can transfer them from the buckets into your own bags or bags that we provide to you free of charge.
Nope. We only charge for the cherries that you have picked (on a per-pound basis).
Every year, usually starting in May, Brentwood, California is awash with local Bay Area families that come to pick cherries from this magical farming region.
The U-picking season, also known as "You-pick" or "U-pick", begins in May and typically ends in June. Weather plays a role in the cherry ripening process, so pickers should check back frequently with us here at Marsh Creek to let you know when the harvest can begin. Once it begins, the customer can visit our farm or the Brentwood cherry picking farm of their choice and pick all of the cherries that you could ever want for the year. Not only do cherries last for weeks in the refrigerator, they are excellent frozen for many months at a time.
If you prefer not picking your own cherries, Brentwood cherry farms often offer a "Pre-pick" option, which is effectively purchasing a freshly picked batch of cherries that was picked by staff at the farm. Pre-picking is a great option as the farmers package their best fruit for you.
So why is Brentwood, CA in Contra Costa County such a magical u-pick and pre-pick cherry destination? Well, the fertile soil, ample water supply, climate and local knowledge make this the "Napa Valley" of Cherries. Located in the Easy Bay in Northern California, Brentwood is a very short drive for millions of Bay Area residents, but it's also a short drive for many in the surrounding regions, including California's Central Valley. More than 20 cherry picking farms are open in May, so the town is well known in California and has grown quite the reputation amongst veteran you-pickers.
A number of years ago, the Newberry Cherry Farm was born. A farmer with a love for Brentwood laid the foundation for what is now known as the Marsh Creek Cherry Farm. Since 2006, the orchards at the Marsh Creek Farm have been thriving and offering Bay Area residents with 5 types of delicious cherries to choose from, including Rainiers, Corals, Utah Giants, Lapins and Sweethearts.
Cherrypicking season is our favorite time of the year. We enjoy seeing our veteran u-pickers from prior years and always get excited to meet new customers. So, if you haven't u-picked cherries in Brentwood before, we hope you'll take advantage of the 2024 u-pick season and come visit us.
